Huawei has delivered digital connectivity to 170 million people in remote and underserved areas across more than 80 countries. Yang Chaobin, CEO of Huawei ICT BG, announced the milestone at the TECH Cares Forum during MWC Barcelona 2026, stating that the effort reflects close collaboration with telecom operators and partners worldwide.

The figure far exceeds the pledge made to the ITU Partner2Connect Digital Coalition in 2022, when Huawei committed to connect 120 million people in remote areas by 2025.

The TECH Cares Forum convened government representatives, industry leaders, partner organizations, and international institutions to discuss the urgent need to advance digital inclusion.

In his opening remarks, Yang emphasized that while AI technologies are advancing rapidly, the digital divide remains and risks widening further. Speakers from international organizations echoed this view, reinforcing that connectivity combined with AI can support social inclusion, economic development, and long‑term sustainability.

Digital inclusion extends beyond connectivity to include digital skills empowerment. Through initiatives such as Skills on Wheels, Huawei is working with partners to expand access, improve affordability, and build digital capabilities in underserved communities.
